VERY BLESSED

1 Corinthians 12:12
Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ.

We recognize God has truly answered our prayers through the use of His people.  We cannot begin to THANK YOU enough for the help you have provided for our family through your support, sharing of Harper's story with others, and most importantly your prayers.

Harper is a busy little girl making such progress.  She recently cut a bottom molar tooth this week, that was fun! ;) We are able to provided her 8 therapy sessions per week not including our once a month visits to Austin for movement therapy.  Because of this she is making great progress and we are so proud of her.  If you look at Harper's Video section to the right you will see her latest video, which I previously posted in a blog, of her obeying a command and shaking her toy.  Also as you can see from the picture in this update, with the help of my boss, an engineer, we have rigged a way for Harper to learn to feed independently.  And, thanks to another CDKL5 mom who's daughter has outgrown the use of a device we were provided a recordable communication button.  We are working on teaching Harper Cause and Effect.  She will push the button which has Lily's picture on top and name recorded on it and Lily will come to her.  This game might take some time for her to learn but it is fun for us as family to play while she learns it! :)  Harper could not have come this far and made this many accomplishments without the help of the people and opportunities God has placed in our lives, without the help from you!

Do not worry we have not left Lily out!  She is doing fabulous in her pre reading and handwriting class, loves her gymnastics as well as her combination ballet and tap class and most of all enjoys her time with friends at First Place Preschool and Sunday School.  We are hoping to add piano to her mix in the fall.

Everyone is busy and Happy!  ;)  This is not exactly what we anticipated life would be like for us but it's a great one and I cannot imagine it any other way!   Thank you again everyone!

JUST A REMINDER:
We have Harper's Big Event coming on August 5th at 6pm at Community Life Church in McKinney.  We are raffling an IPAD2 (tickets available on this site: 1 for $10 or 3 for $20).  We also have some really cool silent and live auction items you will want to come and bid on!  Radio Flyer Spring Horse, multiple pieces of Art and Furniture, Wii, Digital Camera, Kid Kraft for girls and boys, Gift Certificates for various restaurants, hair salons, photography studios, fitness programs, massages, cleaning services and much much more!  Please feel free to invite all that you know as it should be a very entertaining and fun family event!  We hope to see many of you there!

SIDE NOTE:
Through the efforts of this event Hope4Harper has gained two additional fundraising opportunities that will be coming soon.

1) on Saturday August 13 just in time for back to school shopping, Chick Charm in downtown McKinney is hosting a shop day and will stay open late just for Harper!  A portion of proceeds  from that day will go to benefit Harper so if you have little girls and want a new outfit for back to school, holidays or just for fun August 13 is the day to buy it and Chick Charm is the place to get it from!  More details will be posted soon.

2) At some point in the fall thanks to LiveWireFitness there will be a fitness fundraiser for Harper as well.  Details on this event will be posted at a later date!

HARPER ELLE HOWARD - Her Story

Harper Elle Howard was born April 12, 2010 and at just three weeks old, began having seizures. Over the course of 10 months, Harper traveled across the US and underwent a multitude of tests. In February 2011 she was diagnosed with a rare and in some cases life threatening genetic disorder known as CDKL5. There are currently fewer than 300 cases worldwide. Those affected suffer from intense seizures, sensory issues, gastrointestinal difficulties, visual impairment, scoliosis, along with severely delayed developmental growth. For more information on this disorder please visit www.cdkl5.com. The severity of Harper’s particular case is unknown, but we remain hopeful. She has been prescribed intense therapy and seizure control to aid in successful mental and physical development.

Hope4Harper is an organization started to aid in her care. You may choose to help Harper directly with her expenses and although not a tax-deductible, ALL monies generated are used to provide Harper care that might not otherwise be available to her. Option two is a tax deductible option through The Children’s Hospital of Boston. Hope4Harper is working with Dr. Frances Jensen and her team at The Children’s Hospital of Boston on a seizure research project seeking out the best way to stop seizures in CDKL5 affected children. Please view the CHB Project page for more details.

Your support is greatly appreciated and we ask that you keep Harper in your daily prayers, continue to follow her progress and the progress of the seizure research project, as well as, share her story. With your help there WILL be a cure!
